A/Prof. Edirimanne obtained his undergraduate medical qualifications with honours from Flinders University, Adelaide in 1997. He completed Specialist General Surgical Fellowship at Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2007. There after he undertook further three years of sub specialist training in breast and endocrine surgery at Christchurch Hospital, Endocrine Surgical Units of Sir Charles Gairdner and Freemantle Hospitals in Perth and Westmead Breast Cancer Institute.

A/Prof Edirimanne started working at Sydney Adventist Hospital in 2014 and joined the Northern Surgical Oncology group in 2019. He is experienced in management of all aspects of benign and malignant breast conditions including oncoplastic breast surgery (therapeutic mammoplasty, symmetrization surgery and partial breast reconstruction) and post mastectomy immediate implant based breast reconstruction. He is a founding full member of Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand (BreastSurgANZ). A/Prof. Edirimanne is also an experienced endocrine surgeon who performs over 200 thyroid/parathyroid operations per year and a full member of Australia and New Zealand Endocrine surgeons (ANZES), International Association of Endocrine surgeons(IAES) and Endocrine Society of Australia (ESA).

A/Prof. Edirimanne is currently a Clinical Associate Professor in Discipline of Surgery at Nepean and Sydney Adventist Clinical Schools of University of Sydney. He undertakes collaborative clinical, basic science and translational research into breast cancer and endocrine diseases, teaches medical students/surgical trainees and supervises post-graduate research students. The research work get regularly presented in national and international conferences and published in internationally reputed journals.
