what is a multidisciplinary team (mdt)?
A  multidisciplinary team is a group of health professionals and various medical experts who meet to review and discuss treatment plans for patients. The doctors at Northern Surgical Oncology are all members of the multidisciplinary team at Sydney Adventist Hospital and regularly participate in the San Breast MDT and San Melanoma, Sarcoma, and Head & Neck MDT meetings.

These MDT meetings ensure that you receive the best and most up to date cancer care, taking into account multiple factors with a range of expert opinions. Specialists that may be present in these meetings include other surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, cancer geneticists, pathologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, breast care nurses/navigators, psychologists, and physiotherapists.
